Description

I have a local ssh host alias to point to the rather long hostname. The alias is 'oophone'. So when I want to point at a place in the source, I'd say "at git:oophone/math", but that is not a generally valid URL. Which is the shortest universally true URL that points to our git?

If it's too long we might decide on a convention of maybe all adopting the same hostalias for the gitolite repositories and always use that?

ssh://stsp_gitolite@git.user.in-berlin.de/testing.git

is the universally true URL, but doesn't always work (depending on your SSH setup and configuration).

In my opinion "oophone-gitolite:somerepo.git" is the best alias and corresponds to our HowTo..

what about subpaths inside the repos?

AFAIK there's no fixed convention for that..
